In Birmingham, Korri Cunningham serves as an International Baccalaureate coordinator at John Herbert Phillips Academy. She received her Milken Educator Award on October 25, 2023.
Cunningham's experience as a former English language arts teacher and instructional coach supports the success of students and colleagues. Drawing from IB curriculum training, Cunningham’s implementation of the IB portfolio project and coordination of the Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme helped secure an IB World School renewal for JHPA. Her use of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports process has helped build schoolwide climate and culture. Cunningham has led professional development, assisted with back-to-school curriculum and operational preparations and serves as a National Junior Honor Society advisor at JHPA, in addition to her district-level work as a reading curriculum review team member.
Cunningham earned an Associate of Art in English from Lawson State Community College in 2011, a Bachelor of Science in secondary education-English from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2015, and a Master of Education in instructional leadership from the University of West Alabama in 2021.
