Jennifer Hite transforms the learning landscape in her classroom at Pearl Upper Elementary where she teaches fifth grade science. Hite received a Milken Educator Award on January 10, 2024.
By transforming common areas of the classroom into a model of the moon’s cycle and dressing for the curriculum theme, Hite turns her classroom into an immersive experience. She spearheaded several community service projects, including holiday kettlebell ringing; schoolwide fundraising initiatives; and the Promote the Vote project. Hite also chairs the school’s geography bee and serves as a student council supervisor. As science chair, she helps shape the school’s curriculum, mentors teachers, participates on the school leadership team. Hite serves on the state Science Content and Data Review Committee, collaborating with teachers districtwide, offering expertise, sharing best practices, and welcoming others to observe her classroom in action. She has presented at district exhibitions, served on the Superintendent Advisory Committee, and participated in the Counseling Committee.
Hite earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Mississippi State University in 2008.
