Bradley Absher fosters impactful relationships at Bodkin Elementary School in Pasadena where he teaches fifth grade math. He received a Milken Educator Award on April 18, 2024.
Focused on multifaceted instruction, Absher begins each day with a Number Talks warm-up lesson to stimulate mental math skills through real-world puzzles. His classroom is designed in small-group rotations, incorporating review stations, technology and games tailored to individual learning styles. Absher offers after-school tutoring and volunteers at Bodkin's environmental fair and math night. His commitment to professional growth includes leading the math action team, serving on the school improvement and leadership teams, and leading the process for the county’s Academic Achievement for All math grant. A role model in the community and for future educators, Absher is a cooperating teacher for Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) and a field work mentor through the Teach Institute.
Absher earned his Associate of Arts in teaching from AACC in 2013, his Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Towson University in 2015, and his Master of Arts in Education-elementary math from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in 2023.
