Teacher and Instructional Coach, Coastal High School | Myrtle Beach, SC
Myrtle Beach educator Sarah Vicini is known as an enthusiastic, dedicated professional at Coastal High School. She received a Milken Educator Award on January 25, 2024.
The social studies teacher and instructional coach encourages critical thinking and collaboration that yields results. Vicini’s U.S. history and government students had a higher passing percentage than their peers in annual benchmark testing. In her law education class, mock trials help students explore the U.S. legal system and in American history, her students explore historical figures by acting as various leaders. Her psychology students use fairytale stories to combat mental health stigmas. Vicini embraces students’ individual learning styles, consults with the school’s special education coordinator to meet the needs of students with disabilities, and sets goals for those needing extra assistance. As Title II coordinator, she ensures federally funded professional development aligns with the school’s needs, and infuses energy and compassion into mentoring new teachers.
A graduate of Coastal Carolina University, Vicini earned her Bachelor of Arts in education in 2017 and her Master of Education in 2018.
