Albert Her Many Horses (SD '23)
Teacher, Todd County Middle School | Mission, SD
At Mission’s Todd County Middle School, Albert "Bobber" Her Many Horses teaches band, chorus, general music classes. He received a Milken Educator Award on December 20, 2023.
Her Many Horses has embraced technology in his curriculum, becoming the first teacher in the school to integrate iPads in his music classes and successfully producing virtual concerts during the pandemic. He sponsors an in-school wellness group, with its members consistently placing in the schoolwide "Wildcat Challenges" based on attendance, grades and behavior. He also tutors math and science, volunteers for the wrestling program, assists the high school pep band at games, and teaches summer classes to education majors at Sinte Gleska University. Her Many Horses serves alongside Native American tribal members on the Lakota Language and Culture committee as well as on the TCMS parental advisory board. He actively supports South Dakota Destination Imagination, a nonprofit organization that prepares students to become leaders through challenges assessed by a team of educators and industry experts.
Her Many Horses earned his Bachelor of Arts in music education from Augustana University in 2011.
