Travis Dodds (VA '23)
Teacher, Atlee High School | Mechanicsville, VA
Travis Dodds’ AP biology, anatomy, and physiology classes at Atlee High School in Mechanicsville provide opportunities for students to connect to the material through innovative, real-world approaches. He received a Milken Educator Award on March 19, 2024.
An alumnus of AHS himself, Dodds leads the science department and ensures that his team’s work is rooted in data analysis and that there is access to valuable professional learning activities that raise achievement and promote continuous improvement. Dodds’ commitment to the AHS community knows no bounds, whether he is leading professional development, guiding teachers, communicating with parents, providing feedback, or assisting with bus duty. He also co-sponsors National Honor Society, where he works to align standards across all four of the school division’s high school NHS chapters and provides professional learning throughout the division. Dodds’ involvement is amplified through active membership on the school leadership team and the AP action team.
Dodds is National Board Certified. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech in 2010 and his Master of Education from the University of Richmond in 2015.
