Teacher, Grafton High School | Grafton, ND
As the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Grafton High School, Katelyn Gorder’s work is instrumental to the success of her students. She received a Milken Educator Award on January 16, 2024.
A Grafton native and GHS graduate herself, Gorder prepares students for college, career and life through her independent living, nutrition and food preparation, culinary arts and child development classes. Students interested in becoming a teacher can participate in an Education Cooperative Work Experience upon completion of Gorder’s education course. Highly involved at GHS, Gorder has presented and facilitated professional development, serves on the Career and Technical Education advisory committee and is an advisor for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, where she helps students compete at district and state events. Looping in the community, Gorder brings guest speakers into class, allowing students to network and learn from local leaders and professionals.
Gorder earned her Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences from North Dakota State University in 2015 and her master's in curriculum and instruction from Greenville University in 2021.
